About Us

Dr. Kelly Jenkins (Nielsen), DVM, LAc, MAcOM, Dipl OM
Dr. Kelly Jenkins opened Kindred Spirits  Acupuncture Clinic in 2007 where she
specializes in treating both people and animals using acupuncture and Oriental
Medicine.

Dr. Jenkins is currently the only veterinarian in the state of Oregon
who is also a
licensed acupuncturist board certified in Oriental
Medicine.

After working as a practicing veterinarian for many years,  Dr. Jenkins began her
career in alternative medicine in 2001 when she attended the
International
Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) certification course in veterinary
acupuncture.  In 2002, she became certified in animal chiropractic through the
American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, and successfully completed the IVAS
courses on Chinese herbal medicine in 2003.
Veterinary medicine offers no board certification in Oriental medicine, so Dr. Jenkins attended the prestigious
Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) full-time for three years to obtain her Masters degree in Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine, as well as her board certifications in both acupuncture and Chinese herbs for people.

In addition to these alternative medicine credentials, Dr. Jenkins received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and
Surgery from Oregon State University in 1988, her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Washington
State University in 1988, her B.S. in Animal Science and B.S. in General Science from OSU in 1984, and her B.S. in
Veterinary Science from Washington State University in 1985.

been a very respected breeder of English Bulldogs, raising and showing her Bulldogs at both local and national levels
for the past 20 years.

Patricia has since retired from showing  and is now enjoying her quiet life with her partner in the small town of
Donald, Oregon, where they share their home with Bernice the bulldog, Earl the Sharpei, Cesar and Sissy the mighty
Chihuahuas, Halo the deaf kitty, and Nike the rescue kitty.

Patricia's love for all animals and care for people allows her to help our clients with any questions they may have
regarding their pets.  She may even be able to bring a smile to your face regarding her own animals and all their
adventures, so feel free to give her a call.

Catherine Evans, Office Assistant

Catherine Evans, our office assistant, is currently attending Portland State University.  She is a senior majoring in
health science and exercise physiology.  She plans to continue her educational career by receiving her masters
degree in nutrition to become a registered dietician.

One day, Catherine hopes to have a practice of her own where she can teach people about the many benefits of
good nutrition and an active lifestyle.  She enjoys anything that has to do with being outdoors, but snowboarding is
her favorite hobby.

Catherine has had a life-long love for animals and enjoys helping people.  She is always happy and willing to help
people with any questions and concerns they have about their pets.
